suddenly at walgreens i was trying to buy something to drink
you helped me get square water bottles out of the refrigerated section
you thought i was drunk because i was staggering and swerving and not making a lot of sense conversationally
it was supposed to just be a ride home but i managed to keep you longer
i got you to my place and we went into the dark
i left to put my things away my room was black but i could see the silvery mirror
we stayed up all night playing cards with my family
i didn't expect them to be there
we played a strange version of scrabble where you toss letter tiles into a sandy pit in the center of the table and then draw cards
you were sick in the bathroom
in the early morning chaos everyone was showering trying to get ready for work or school
an unresponsive female relative stood near a door way with a feeding tube in her mouth
i kept looking for you
i had stolen a kiss earlier and was hoping for more
i searched in the bathroom, the clear curtain, the shiny mirror
i found you hiding with a mask on, you were 2 feet shorter than before
the mask was slightly horrific but it didn't dissuade me
i promised to take you to work you were so nervous about being late
i rushed into my dark room to grab my purse but somehow came out with a pair of shoes with the laces tied together which i mistook for my yellow handbag
we left anyway
you were in a hurry and tried to start my car from the passenger seat
a big potted flower sat between us over the parking break and made shifting gears difficult
we lurched and rolled through town and traffic
stuck at a stop light behind a car and motorcycle full of zombie punks we tried to play cool
i could only think about kissing you over and over again
i don't know if we made it to your job or not i think things ended before we could get there
